Power outage in 110 degrees; first monsoon storm on the way; and Baby

We had a dangerous power outage last night in Gila Bend not far from here. 100 mile an hour winds snapped many power poles. They don't expect to restore power to 2 or 3 thousand people until tomorrow morning! Oh, I would hate to be an old lady in that town. I went for my meds this morning in about 113 degrees and had to give up walking to the grocery story a half of a block away and come home. I am just praying the big monsoon storm headed our way from Flagstaff won't knock out our power!
By the way Walgreens is installing a new system for meds and they told me Saturday that I could get one prescription there and would have to pick up the other four in a Walgreens on Orange Blossom Road! I said I don't even know where that is, I never heard of it! I have to collect all my meds to one pharmacy because it is too HOT to go to more. When I picked up my meds I found out Orange Blossom Road was in Florida!! I said what do I tell them next time? The gal waiting on me said, "Tell them, and you idiots, don't tell me to go clear to Florida to pick up my meds." It seems they have a new central system that takes care of the faxing! I said I thought I spoke to a real person, but he sounded so unsure of himself I about said, "Do you know what you are doing?"
Sadly, a family of 5 probably from out of town ran out of water hiking on South Mountain and one 14 year old died. Every year it happens when the extreme heat hits. You can get deydrated so fast it is not even funny, and soon you can be in big trouble. People have died of heat prostration a mile out in the desert.

My sister Margie wrote her report of the festival on the family site and said my son Gary was THE ROCK STAR ARRIVING. I guess his cousins had heard about his heart attack, and some he had not seen in years greeted him with affection. I think he was dragging an outfit he had to take to New Mexico on the way.
I have not heard from any of my sons, so they are probably still working and recovering. Raymand and Dan would have had to take all the saddles back gathered for the saddle show, plus tear down all the equipment used for broadcasting the music. It is a good thing Dan's regular job the past year has been setting equipment up for shows. He asked people to take photos of him working, so he could show his boss!
One of the family even posted a photo of Raymond's dog. I will try to snare one and put it on here. Baby is very cute.
My sister Margie said the men were very interested in the ranching book which traces the history of each property through new owners. Naturally the men were drawn to this project. And they were pointing out mistakes to be corrected before the book goes to a final printing. Margie said it was the biggest festival ever!

Sister Ann receives warning of danger

Ann had just been reading a book by John Edwards, one of America's famous mediums, called "Crossing Over," which our niece Cheryl had given her. She was talking to Cheryl on the phone about a book project and she said that somethng very odd happened. She felt and even saw in her mind what seemed like a bolt of lightning. It went into her computer as she was talking and then she thought it went through my sister LaRae who has been dead over 20 years, who seemed to be right there, and from there it went into her ex-husband Vernon, who is still alive, Cheryl's father. Ann said she did not want to say anything to Cheryl right then, but she decided to heed John Edward's instructions to share these experiences in order to give them validity.
So she went to the family site after she hung up and wrote down what had transpired. And then she asked Cheryl if anything was going on with her dad, had something happened to him very recently?
Well, folks, it had not happened yet! Later, I am not sure how long, Cheryl came on the family site and said a few hours after my sister Ann posted this entry, her dad Vernon was in a car wreck. It disabled his car so that he could not drive it, he was shaken up and upset because he had not seen the vehicle he hit, but did not seem to be seriously hurt.
I thought that this psychic pickup was real and undoubtedly happened because my sister Ann was so in tune at the moment with all the people involved. I do not think we can get these advanced warnings unless we remain open and aware and always concerned about the safety and well being of those around us. Ann could not stop the event from happening, but her sensing danger would give comfort to Cheryl and Colette, Vernon's daughters, conveying to them, that no, they were not alone. The mother they have missed so many years was close by and watching over them, and had once again made contact, as she has done many other times when a family member is in crisis.
My sister Linda has had many dreams about her, since her crisis with her back and her numb hands has begun. She said when I talked to her yesterday that our sister LaRae spoke to her very strongly in a dream and said, "Leave now, go as fast as you can." Moving to San Francisco right now seems to be the fastest way she can get seen by a specialist since she has been advised that she would have to wait up to 45 days here to get on medicaid and see a specialist. If she moves to San Francisco she will be under the watchful eye of her daughter who I am sure will be able to help her to get this seen about. She said she had a very bad night just from trying to pack, but her son Scott is coming today from Los Angeles to drive her van. She will need a bed in back she said because there is no way she can sit up all that way. People with serious problems like this are having a tough time right now getting seen in a timely manner. I just hope that she gets to San Francisco within the next few days without serious mishap and is soon seen there. I fear that surgery will be her only alternative, as she is not recovering.
I am recovering from my fall well and was able to walk to the library yesterday with a load of books to return. Walking keeps the body strong, so I realized I needed to get going again as soon as possible. It is the best protection from gaining more weight there is. I told Doc yesterday it is very hard for me to hold my weight in check when he is not holding his drinking in check. I spend too many hours alone, while still attached to him. I am unable to spend more time with him because of his drinking. He is just too irritable.
I am going to Los Angeles with him if for no other reason than that he volunteered and I need someone to accompany me. He realizes this is going to be a test of his strength and is already worrying some about his drinking. He said he would not be carrying his thermos on the bus, but I am afraid he will go into withdrawal if he doesn't. He really wants to get out of this constriction on his life alcohol imposes. I know he is excited by the magnitude of what Raymond has been able to do sober, which he could not do. Without sobriety and good health habits, there is no way in the world Raymond could have gone to Los Angeles and staged his play. No way! I think Doc is impressed. He could disdain what happens in Utah, but Raymond going to Los Angeles was a step that he had to admire in spite of himself.

Two Xmas trees better than one, pedofile videos, and protecting grandkids

Doc and I have been very busy this morning making more videos as I found that I was not through with my discussion of the pedofile, so the first video is called "Is there a pedofile gene?" which led to more and more discussion during which Doc has a surprising reaction, a new way to protect himself from being recognized by people he knows in such a video. As I said, he is along for comic relief when the subject might be perceived as grim, only sometimes he gets carried away.
The little green Christmas tree was Doc's tree last year, so he asked me to decorate it with green balls, cheap, and after two trips to thrift stores I found these very cheap green balls that he okayed. This ball tree has almost upstaged his glass tree with the multicolorded balls, but he says he will display both.
Oh Raymond is doing wonderfully with his blog in case you have not checked it out lately (http://cowboysandbohemians.blogspot.com) and talented writers have been commenting, so be sure to read the comments, too. He wrote and produced a lot of his and other people's plays, so he is really going into some fascinating techniques of play writing.
In fact, since my family has blogged on the family site for 5 years, more of them are branching off with blogs. I think it is wonderful. My nurse sister has her grand daughter helping her to create one called Marge (so far) Margie is a nurse who has had many fascinating experiences in her career, so I hope she will soon join our active nurse Pam in the blogging world. As far as I am concerned we can't have too many nurse stories which can lure me into reading every time. Katie, Margie's grand daughter has also started her blog called Katie and Kelton to document in photos as well as words her little son's progress in the world. Her photographer is wonderful, so that blog is a real treat already. My sister Linda said this family was blogging before the word was even invented, and that is true, because we have written huge long letters to one another for years. Margie and I had to go away to school, and that started all the letters.
In those days, nobody ever called long distance. Our phone line had around 25 people on the same line. Our phone number I remember was 3 short rings and 2 long. Yes! Certain ladies in town were accused of eavesdropping every time the phone rang so they always kept up with all that was going on, just like the phone was a newspaper.
In the series we made this morning, I talk to Doc about the dangers of the Internet for kids and how hard it is to control access. I will embed more on the subject when I get one uploaded. My grandkids are impressed with how Grandma has taken to the Internet and Youtube and Blogspot, but that doesn't stop them from trying to outwit her when she is taking a nap, going to a questionable site. It takes cunning to keep up with the younger generation!

3- Pedofile show and tell

In my last segment of this series on the pedofile I am still talking about the difficulty some children have in telling about molesting, I think boys a lot more than girls. I have tried to study in depth, child molestation throughout generations, and it still continues to be a very troubling manifestation. The latest wrinkle is using the Internet to lure the unseuspecting. Child porno seems to have expanded with the help of the Internet. I say we have to focus on it with dialogue. Nothing is going to change if we don't actively think about and tackle the problem. What do you think?

Fighting over issues on Youtube

My video "Gerry focuses on Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA)" has gotten 27 hits so far, which shows there is enough interest for me to deem this video worth making, but let me tell you what has alarmed me about such things as this extremist legislation--what I am seeing on Youtube. Obama turned to Youtube to help spread his word, which proved to be highly successful in reaching the young, but just as strongly, those in opposition, especially to this bill, have turned to Youtube. I have seen videos now of Obama making promises in his speeches to support this act all the way as he did in one to Planned Parenthood. Now this is unprecedented for a male candidate to do this in our history of legalized abortion. I just saw a video that said "This man will be supporting 6,000,000 deaths in his term of office." The video goes on to say that the US is estimated to be killing 1,500,000 a year in legalized abortion. The implication is that if this bill is signed, the numbers will climb, which I think they surely will, and Obama will be tied to these deaths.
What I fear is that Obama is being made the sacrificial goat for the abortion rights extremists who are going to make everybody in opposition furious if this bill is signed into law that can't be touched. He will be a much bigger target for violence than they will be. If you google FOCA you will find the full text of this act which does not leave out one single way people have tried to oppose legalized abortion. It practically even forbids those in office of talking against abortion! When they say untouchable law they mean it.
If you support the solution of abortion you are entering the killing fields and many things change when you do that, including the safety many have taken for granted in this country. Once the country is killing 1,500,000 a year in the unborn, our country becomes increasingly unsafe for anybody. People think just because it is the unborn, which we have managed not to think about very much at all, the rest of us are perfectly safe. Wrong. We are not safe. Nobody's safe when that much killing is going on.
Abortion advocates keep talking about protecting the life of the mother. In FOCA we see that the sacrifice of the child means nothing which is thinking that many do not espouse or think is logical. So are we to let abortion extremists rule? This act will in my opinion create a very volatile atmosphere, where the violent will feel they have more justification to explode.
Obama sounds so committed to this cause in these videos, I do not know if he can be influenced. I think now is the time for all citizens to weigh the consequences of going to extremes with abortion and try to make themselves felt and heard. Obama is not just an attractive and intelligent black man, as he is to most, he is a black man with a very troubling agenda to me, if these videos are any indication. I have fought the extremists for years in both parties. I left Mormon Utah because of their extremist religous views toward a lot of issues, including homosexuality. I have not attached myself to any church since because I think they all tend to be extremist. I had to look at it from the viewpoint of one who thought her father was gay, the man I relied on to protect me. I thought my father was wrong in a lot of his behavior, but it was wrong for his society to make him feel there was no way out but suicide. I fought his suicidal tendencies my whole life. And I continued to fight the condemnation that causes bisexual men to be suicidal.
With legalized abortion, we may get such extremist views from both camps, it can only lead to extreme violence! This is what we need to try to prevent if we possibly can by sounding the voices of moderation, moderation. All people's thinking on this issue is very important in order to prevent a clash between uncompromising camps that could produce another great national tragedy. There needs to be dialogue and a lot of it about what can be done to be more moderate. I am a great believer in the power of thought coming from the many.
You can google FOCA. I copied and pasted it and have it among my papers. I also copied a timeline on abortion since it was legalized. I am trying to get myself as well informed as possible. I am also going to speak out as a democrat objecting to the idea that the democratic party is the party of abortion. I know there are a lot of democrats who just aren't considering and speaking out about this issue if it means clashing with more vocal extremist leaders, but if they want to protect their young leader, they will get very knowledgeable about a very dangerous issue. Trying to find a path of moderation that will not lead to violence.
Trying to force Catholic hospitals to do abortions by law if they do anything with women in the gynocological and obstretrical fields is extremist. I suppose they are furious at how strongly the Catholics continue to fight legalized abortion, and tend to think they need to be soundly defeated, destroyed if possible. FOCA purports that abortion should be an untouchable right, indicating that the Catholic opposition to it since the 3rd century is completely wrong! That is extremist thinking and will lead to violence. I have often wondered if abortion extremists would ever be satisfied without more late term abortions, less restrictions. The ban on partial abortion infuriated them for example. Mothers will die! How many mothers are actually going to die because the gruesome practice of partial birth abortion (tearing apart the child no matter how late term)is banned? FOCA retrieves that abortion right by overturning the ban. Angry extremist thinking. Dangerous thinking.
Extremists create war when peace would be better. Bush, for example, showed his extremist thinking that war was the only solution and far over extended the US in war after 9/11. To heck with the cost. The world was going to tolerate his war against bin Laden but it was a good deal less supportive of his invasion of Iraq, and eventually hardly anybody seemed to have supported this war, but did he allow their reservations to stop him? Well, he moved too fast, catching many off guard still trying to access what to do after 9/11 which shocked and threw everyone off balance. We will have to forgive Bush because of his brash haste in invading another country, but he was our leader, and as he reminded us it was his decision to make and then try to marshall our support later. Reluctantly we gave it. By the end of his term we are hardly even showing him enough respect to listen to him talk, president or not. Extremists will suffer such consequences and worse.
